The attractive, 33-story, red-brick tower at 500 West 30th Street where the High Line turns west is known as the Abington House and was built in 2014.

The architect was Robert A. M. Stern, who also designed 15 Central Park West and the Chatham at 181 East 65th Street.

It was developed by the Related Companies and Abington Properties. 

Related is the developer of the nearby Hudson Yards project and was a co-developer of the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle.  Abington was also the developer of 230 East 30th Street, 239 Park Avenue South, 295 Park Avenue South, 121 Reade Street, 50 Prince Street, 12 East 22nd Street, 10 Jones Street, 214 East 24th Street, and 207 East 27th Street.

The building has 386 rental apartments.

Bottom Line

This tower sits at the north end of the High Line Elevated Park where it begins to wrap around the Hudson Yards project and thus has many spectacular views to the south. The building also has 30,000 square-feet of amenities.

Description

The red-brick tower has numerous multi-story black façade elements and its low-rise wing is castellated.

The lobby and amenity spaces were designed by Clodagh. The lobby has Chinese limestone floors embedded with fossils, reclaimed wood, riveted metal panels and a pair of cast concrete benches shaped like dachshunds.

Amenities

The building has a 4,000-square-foot fitness center in the basement, a computer lounge and a pair of party rooms on the ground floor.

The building has a concierge, a doorman, a bicycle room, storage, a laundry and available parking. It also allows pets.

Apartments

Apartments have oak floors and kitchens have walnut cabinetry and quartz counters.

A two-bedroom unit has an entry foyer that leads past a pass-through kitchen to a 19-foot-wide living/dining room.

A one-bedroom unit has an entry foyer that leads to an 18-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen.

A studio unit has an entry foyer next to a large pass-through kitchen next to a 14-fo0t-long living /dining room with an 8-foot-wide sleep alcove.
