This mid-block, 41-story rental apartment tower at 42 West 33rd Street was erected in 2017 by the Tokian Group and designed by the Stephen B. Jacobs Group. 

It has 223 apartments and is known as The Solari. 

Interiors are by Andi Pepper. 

The building is slightly to the west and across 33rd Street from the Empire State Building. 

The building is half a block east of Herald Square and has good public transportation. 

The site was formerly occupied by a garage that the developer acquired for $30 million in 2007.

Bottom Line

A mid-block, glass rental apartment tower with one-angled façade just south and west of the Empire State Building.

Description

The building has a 6-story masonry base with a setback above the third floor and a setback tower with three glass façades of which the western one is angled to provide views of the Hudson River.

Amenities

The building has a 24-hour concierge, a business center, a bicycle room, valet service, roof deck has fireplace, grilling stations, outdoor theater, a lounge, zen garden, fitness center, pool, golf simulator and pet space.

Apartments

Apartments have ceiling heights to 10 to 12 feet, floor-to-ceiling windows, 5-inch wide oak plank floors, Stevali kitchen cabinetry and most have Bosch washers and dryers. 

Penthouse 2D is a three-bedroom unit with an entry foyer across from an open kitchen with a breakfast part at one end of a 21-foot-long living/dining room with a corner window. 

Apartment 29C is a one-bedroom unit with a 15-foot-long living/dining room with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar. 

Apartment 6B is a studio unit with a 21-foot-long living/dining room with access to a 24-foot-long and a 19-foot-long terrace.
